I don't know what's wrong with mosquitoes these days. They are everywhere and in huge numbers, waiting eagerly for you to walk in so that they can feast up on you.
Now this theory was developed by “yours truly” when I was reading a novel in my room the the other day. As a precautionary measure I keep the 'Good night' burning even when I am not asleep as I am their favourite food. I act as a human “Goodnight” for anyone else sleeping in the room (they all come and bite me leaving others at peace). I was stunned to see a mosquito sitting right on top of the machine and staring at the glowing bulb inside ( as though it was laughing at it!!!!)
Then evolved the great “Mosquito theory”! This theory talks about how the mosquitoes go through a stage of evolution exactly like humans did. That is to infer that the species get evolved with time and get used to the mosquito repellents we use at our homes. Eventually, the mosquito repellent fails to do its duty and the mosquitoes outsmart the poor old machine.
Mosquitoes, that bite are the female mosquitoes, which gather blood for laying eggs. The more they gather blood, the more number of mosquitoes will be born. A she-mosquito lays approx. around 50-300 eggs per “oviposition”(please find the meaning from wikipedia-its a long one). Now, average life of a mosquito is around 5-14 days. However, a she-mosquito can live upto a month under captivity,i.e if she is lucky enough to survive natural predators (man being the most dangerous...:)). In such a short life span it can reproduce almost twice or thrice. Thus slowly and steadily, they are getting used to the everyday “Goodnight” smell and its chemical components. The mother mosquito delivers chemically advanced mosquito every time she gives birth. Every new born mosquito is a step better than what his/ her parents were. The process can be closely paralleled to human evolution, except that these buggers have outsmarted us in their evolution speed!!!
And one such mosquito was spotted by me who was sitting on my poor “Goodnight” machine. I found the solution! Went to the market in evening and picked up a “Mortein”. It works.......;).
He he he! "Mosquito Theory"...looks similar to Charles Darwin's 'Modern Evolution Theory'
